25th April 2024: We’re delighted to announce that National Heathland Conference CIC now exists as a fully registered legal entity. What does this mean? As a Community Interest Company we are now transparently an independent “not for profit” organisation. Benefits include that we can hold our own bank account, processing as we post this, rather than imposing on the staff time of a host organisation.
The intention continues to be that NHC CIC become embedded in every interested party’s mind as a legacy long term organisation that provides structure and a mechanism that can be used for future conferences without draining already financially challenged NGO’s.
At present there are four directors, Sarah Bunce (Thames Basin Heaths Partnership), Adam Curtis (National Trust Norfolk), Chris Panter (Footprint Ecology) and myself, Stephen Fry (Heathland dinosaur!). We are all, as Directors, acting in a private capacity and, over time, hopefully be replaced by other passionate advocates for heathland and its management.
Booking will open very soon, as soon as the bank account is fully functioning, so do please support us by booking at the earliest opportunity, not least to reduce our anxiety level!
